2026 Wyaralong dam pest fishing competition

6am: Competition area open

Head to the Competition's main presentation area located beside the main carpark to pay and register for the day (only if you don't this online beforehand), purchase your bait worms, BBQ breakfast and get fishing! All money raised from Bait and BBQ helps us buy more native fish!

6:30am - 1:30pm: Get fishing!

Competition is open for fishing during these hours, within the boundaries outlined in the rules of the competition. If you pre-purchase your entry ticket online, you do not need to visit a rego desk in the morning to confirm your ticket. Get straight to fishing in the morning. We will ask for your details during the weigh-in process at the top of the boat ramp. At the registration area, you will also find BioSecurity Queensland, on hand to help you with Pest fish information and help with identifying the correct species.  

10:00am - 1:30pm:  Weigh-in during these hours

The weigh in station will be located at the top of the boat ramp, next to the pest fish disposal bins. Please take your catch to the weigh in area to be recorded in the competition, here we will confirm your ticket. Ensure pest fish are dipatched quickly and humanely on capture, live or half dead fish will not be weighed in. Ask our members if you're unsure of how to do this.  Please weigh in before 1:30pm, as presentations will be shortly after.

2:00pm: Presentation, Prizes and Giveaways!

You must be present during the presentation to be eligible for prizes in the draw. All online ticket holders will have their name automatically added in the prize draw, you don't need to do anything but be present to win!  After 1:30pm, please remain in the registration area and we’ll start presentations and the draw as soon as the weigh in is finalized.

A Stocked Impoundment Permit (SIP) is required to fish Wyaralong Dam

Fish on the dam from the bank, canoe, kayak or boat.

No outboard motors to be used. (But may be left on your boat)

RULES OF THE COMPETITION

• By applying for entrance into the Logan & Albert Fish Management Association's Pest Fishing Competition, you hereby agree to abide by all rules and regulations pertaining to this competition.
• All decisions by the weigh masters/judges are final.
• All fish presented at weigh station for prizes must be line caught on the day of competition.
• Boundaries - confines of Wyaralong Dam up to Beaudesert-Boonah Rd crossing at Coulson.
• Gates open at 5.30am and fishing commences at 6.30am.
• Weigh in commences at 10am and ceases at 1.30pm - you must be at weigh station before 1.30pm!
• Insurance Indemnity must be agreed to when purchasing these tickets.
• Fishing can be from the bank, canoe, kayak or boat - boats that have petrol motors attached can be used but petrol motor is not to be started - electric motors only to be used.
• You must follow the directions of the parking marshals.
• A Stocked Impoundment Permit is required when fishing Wyaralong Dam.
• Any Carp or Tilapia captured must not be returned to the water.
• Please do not litter - use rubbish bins provided.
• LAFMA recommends that all native fish captured on the day be released unharmed.
• When on the water, LAFMA recommends that all competitors wear life jackets.
• The Weigh Station will be at the top of the boat ramp next to the carp/tilapia disposal bin.
• You must be present at the presentation to be eligible for the lucky prize draws.
